Technicians from HUAQUAN Power Suggest to Avoid These Things to Extend the Lifespan of Your Generator Set
Some improper operation can cause severe damage to your generator set and shorten its lifespan. Let’s have a look at some of the operations to avoid according to the technicians from HUAQUAN Power.
1. Have the unit running when there is no sufficient oil in it.
When there is not enough oil, there won’t be enough lubrication among friction surfaces of components in the unit. This will bring excessive wear and tear and even cause burning damage to the unit.
2. Shutting off the unit suddenly under load or after unloading.
The coolant stops circulating around the unit after the engine has been turned off. Under this situation, components like cylinder heads, cylinder liner, cylinder blocks that get heated up during the operation won’t be able to dissipate this heat and will likely have cracks due to overheating.
3. Have the unit running under load without warming it up immediately after the cold start.
Machine oil is more viscous and less fluid under low temperature. This will cause insufficient oil supply to the oil pump and result in excessive wear and tear among the friction surfaces of the components. Some severe results due to the lack of lubrication would be cylinder scoring and bearing burnout.
