Common types of generator sets for continuous power plants

Gas turbine generator set:

Features: High power, fast start-up, relatively clean emissions. Commonly used in urban peak shaving power stations, combined cycle power stations, and distributed energy stations.

Applicable to areas with sufficient natural gas supply.

Gas internal combustion generator set:

Features: High power generation efficiency and mature technology. Can be used for continuous power plants fueled by biogas, coalbed methane, natural gas, and other fuels.

Heavy duty diesel generator set:

Features: High reliability, easy access to fuel. It is a common choice for primary power sources in remote areas, island power stations, and large enterprise owned power stations.

Steam turbine generator set (non direct drive):

Characteristics: In coal-fired, nuclear, solar thermal, biomass incineration and other power plants, steam is generated by boilers or reactors to drive steam turbines, which in turn drive generators. This is the largest continuous power generation method.
